2011 Lincoln MKX Spy Shots

The car site LeftlaneNews has caught pictures of Lincoln's facelifted MKX Crossover testing. While camouflaged, we still get an pretty good idea of what they're planning. No huge changes, just a nice update to bring the MKX in line with the rest of the Lincoln lineup and it's new look.

That's the current MKX, released only in 2007. It's good to see the quickness in doing an update. Lincoln is staying on top of successful products and keeping them fresh, unlike before (remember the LS?).

I like the design of the current MKX, I thought it was a unique design at the time. It's clear though that Lincoln design has changed significantly since then. The boxy headlights and 1960's Continental-like grille have been replaced with a sweeping waterfall grille and slim, horizontal headlights.

The horizontal design theme in the rear continues, but the full-length light bar (again Continental-like) is dismissed for a look similar to that on the redesigned MKZ. It looks good from what I can see, helping to integrate the MKX nicely with the rest of the lineup.

It looks like the interior will be getting an update as well, probably similar to the interior on the new MKT. Surprisingly, I think I actually like the previous generation design of Lincoln's interiors better. I'll need to see them in person though to know for sure. They really hit a good vein though in the previous MKZ and MKT. The design when displayed on the MKR Concept was gorgeous but none of the following production vehicles ever really lived up to it.

No doubt Ford is continuing it's product march, carrying everything out according to plan, producing some great vehicles. Very good to see!

The new MKX is slated to get Ford's Ecoboost engines, possibly even with a 4-cylinder (wow!). They should help offer more power while getting great fuel economy. Expect to see the MKX debut as a 2011 model.
