Could someone please explain me this "tofu tax" thing.
Why? If we remove all the Initial D-spec awesomeness then we have just an 30 year old basic hatchback with 1.6 n/a engine.
I'd love to have one but i can't afford it.

The hype of everyone wanting to live out their touge dreams out shines the realistic value if the car causing the “tax”. I’m not sure how else to explain it.

Essentially its the difference of what a car is actually worth and how much people would/are paying for it just because it was featured in a show or a movie.

So just rising the price up into sky for no actual reason?

It was an odd thing to understand when I bought my Supra. Somehow Toyota’s flagship car of the period ended up costing me half of what it would’ve been to buy a Corolla. Straight 6, GT with plenty of accessories costs less than a 4 Cyl basic car. Whatever, I love my Supra now so it doesn’t matter haha
