Help MX5 is cutting out
So my MX5 has started cutting out upon start up if I manage to rev through it , it then idles fine. I had the MAF sensor replaced recently. The belt are also squealing really bad maybe something to do with this possibly slipping ? But would that cause it to cut out? The belts are new too. Please someone help because I’ve started to have enough of this car.

Change your fuel filter. Last summer I had a similar issue on my car where upon starting it would chug along at 500 rpm until stabilising a few seconds later, gas untouched it would stall.
Especially when you go hard and demand from the fuel pump it gets very sluggish on the throttle or start on a warm enginen god help if it’s both on a start
After changing have not had a single issue like it, like it used to the engine goes to 1500 on a cold start and purrs smooth.
And it’s basic maintenance even if it doesn’t fix it your car will love you for not pumping literally black gunk into the motor.
As for the belts, maybe a loose/worn tensioner?
Cheers man ill try that
Does the NB have OBD2? Maybe you should get a diagnose reader, would be helpful for future problems.
Yeah im gonna buy one
UPDATE:
car was completely fine this Morning after doing nothing (was slightly warmer)😂🤦♂️. So im gonna assume its the fuel filter letting shit into the engine and gonna try replace that in next few weeks.
Don’t throw parts at it! You should first tighten the belts to spec so they stop squealing. Next, get your codes read at an auto parts store for free. Inspect your spark plugs
Test your plug wires with soapy water at night
Check for spark on each cylinder when it is misfiring (youtube this)
Fuel issues usually show at high rpm high load scenarios. Thats when the engine would be starved of fuel. Spark issues are easily diagnosed for free and should be checked first
