Days of automotive sports in Slovenia

First up. This is my first blog post. So any tips, advices and critiques are more than welcome.

Slovenian automotive scene isn’t really big, the only type of racing that people go out and see is rally and some small drift events, but any other kind of racing is almost non existing. In fact we don’t even have real race track at the moment. We have some karts track on which sometimes organize track days, at Raceland in Krško especially.

But the light is starting to shine at the and of the tunnel. A decade we had a circuit, transformed from old army airport, named Mobikrog. But it was abandoned and the association for Slovenian motosport (AŠ2005) with the support of some auto clubs and individuals are now rebuilding the track in effort to open it for public.

Because rebuilding the interest in racing is more important than rebuilding the track, there have been some promotionals events going on in last months. I have been to two of them.

First one was at ex-Mobikrog and it was first chronometer in Slovenia and it was organized by AMD Gaj, AŠ2005 and Lema Racing (the only racing team in Slovenia that does circuit racing).

Second one was days of open doors and it was in town near me so i had to go check it out. It was one of the auto/racing clubs that opened doors of their garage. I had bad luck (or luck) and there were no one except the organizers. Two of the members are also in Lema team and that meant, there is ETCC Seat Leon which is something else to see, compared to rally cars that you usually see in Slovenia.

If you want so see more pictures from this events other races that i have photographed this season tell me. I have spent this summer (a little bit more actually) with Lema Racing team as photographer (and it was one of the best years in my life).
