Watch A McLaren 720S Smash Into A Parked Audi R8

Dramatic footage shows the moment someone attempted to launch a 720S in Toronto, only to spin out and hit a parked R8

Well, this looks expensive, doesn’t it? Apparently shot in Toronto, this footage shows the moment someone tried a hard launch in a McLaren 720S, quickly lost the rear end and piled into a parked car. The parked car being an Audi R8.

The title mentions ‘launch control’, but this to us looks more like the driver turned off the driver aids and stamped on the throttle. Even in this potato-spec vertical footage, we can see quite a bit of damage was done to both cars.

The Reddit post for the video contains a copy/pasted description that apparently came from Facebook, stating the following:

“A 19 year old kid took his sisters 720s out, didn’t have a license, then tried launch control. Lost control and hit the R8 that was parked. The kid ran away from the scene but forgot his passport in the car…the sister then was scene [sic] arriving in an lambo [sic] trying to take the blame.”

We’d take that preposterous but just about plausible story with a wee pinch of salt until some more solid information arrives.

When your McLaren is tired of destroying cars in drag races and literally destroys a car instead

I don’t get why someone would spam downvotes on a comment that doesn’t do anything wrong, oh well

I’m tired of seeing this sh*t every day, rich kids wrecking cars that we can’t afford and some day they will become so rare we will only see them trough holograms…

I have a decent fast daily, even if it doesn’t handle like my dream car my daily has taught me a lot about proper fast driving, giving a powerful car to a beginner on a MR layout is asking for a disaster, it is like when i delivered the MP4-12C,it wasn’t gentle at all,MR cars must be respected as the widowmakers they are, not treat them as 50€ cars.

the sad thing is that we can’t save them, unless we make a law that forces beginner drivers to drive FWD cars to a maximum of 150hp

Supercars should come with a teenage mode - like you get with fast Chevys. That ought to be a thing! And they should only be disabled by an adult/experienced driver.

Why not go with the Hellcat approach? 2 different keys for 2 different horsepower amounts (Red=500hp Black=700hp (I think))

What does the (sic) thing mean? I mean it is pretty sick though that she rolled up to her crashed mclaren in a Lamborghini

You add the “(sic)” when there’s a mistake, as an example, in a text you copy, to show that you copied word for word and that the mistake was already present in the original text. Source: fellow grammar commie and studying in journalism
