Engine Swap for Gen 7 Celica

My Celica has 192 Hp and FWD and is simply not vicious enough. My Idea would be to Swap the Engine and convert it to a RWD with a VQ35DE V6 that will get a twin turbo treatment. Any thoughts on this idea?

I thought about the VQ35DE because it is way easier to get.

Be prepared to do A LOT of fabrication and spend a lot of money on it. I don’t know if you realise how much work it takes to do this kind of swap on an already rwd car, let alone a fwd-rwd conversion. But don’t let that put you of the idea, it’d be an incredible build.

Possibly the biggest task would be creating a custom floor pan to house everything and mount the diff, gearbox, etc onto. It’d need to be millimeter accurate. If you’ve got a donor car, you could potentially use floor pan sections from that

Get a mr2 sypder and do that swap instead. Already an rwd. Liked Danny said, you need to get the floor panel to work on before fitting anything under there.

No, thanks I like my Celica and it won’t be replaced by a MR2.

Just a French guy

If you live in USA, Monkey Wrench Racing sells swap kit for K-Series engin. Works fine, not too difficult to swap.
About the rwd conversion, with a little piece of chance, you can house everything in the exhaust tunel, removing the exhaust, but you have to rework the floor pans to fit a gearbox.
Look for an MR2 has donor, I think that it shares very pieces with the 7th celica so it can make the conversion easier, but I’m not very sure about that…

I didnt say replace. Just letting you know why waste time and hard work in doing something that required brain, skills, and money. Might as well get a damn toyota fr-s and swap the engine you ask for.
