GT Legends (2005) Review #blogpost

GT Legends is a track based historic racing game with cars from the 1960s and 70s developed by SimBin Studios. The game came out in 2005 for the PC (just Windows 2000 and Windows XP according to Wikipedia.

GT Legends has 28 race cars (Not including DLC) from the 1960 and 70s such as the Austin Mini Cooper S and the Jaguar MK II All of the cars are from the Touring Cars and Grand Touring Cars category. The cars have all been modelled so well and all feel unique. That is something that I was surprised about, because the game runs on the ISImotor physics engine, and if you look at the other games that run on this engine, you’ll notice that all the cars seem the same, so SimBin Studios were probably thinking that this game was going to be a huge success.

GT Legends has tracks from all over world, that would have been raced on in the 60’s and 70s, including as Mondello Park, Magny-Cours and Hockenheim. The tracks all look great and and are all fun to drive on in all their configurations

The actual racing in the game is quite good, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best that it could be. The gear changes don’t sound right and the physics are good, but did need some more work on it. When it comes to racing against other cars, no game does it better. When your racing against other cars, there’s a sense that you’re actually racing, not just trying to beat your last lap time that happens in other racing games. SimBin Studios did a really good job there.

In conclusion, GT Legends is an amazing game with a brilliant car and track list. All cars and tracks have been made really well. The game play is better than Forza and Gran turismo of the time. The physics and the sound aren’t the best. GT Legends is a game that you should play if you’re into PC gaming. Overall I’m going give this game 9.5 out of 10.

I have a predicament. I have the original CD ROM from my childhood, in very good condition. The family computer is running Windows 10 with around 2 gigs of RAM. I have a Logitech G29. The last time I tried to run it it broke the computer. Any suggestions to get it running again?

Buying this on steam was one of the best things i ever did. The amount of car mods i have installed is insane. I wouldn’t be suprised if it was over 100.
