Motorsports in Croatia #Blogpost
Some of you might know of Croatia from Rimac or Croatias beautiful views and many islands or maybe even their succes in football(soccer) ,but Croatia also has a role in motorsport.
Types of motorsports in Croatia:
- The Croatian Rally
- Motocross
3.Karting and a ton more!
Race tracks located in Croatia:
Autodrom Grobnik- The Grobnik race track which is located in Croatia has hosted many trackdays and also many races. From 1978 to 1990 it was used for the Yugoslavian motorcycle Grand Prix. It was also used for the FIM Sidecar World Championship and is probably one of my favourite tracks.
Opatija Circuit- from 1931 to 1977 it was known as ‘’the Monaco of Grand Prix Motorcycle racing’’.
It was a street circuit which was 6 km long and with 85 m of elevation changes. It hosted the Adriatic Grand Prix and motorcycle, sportscars, formula junior and formula 3 races. It gained a reputation similar to the Isle of Man TT circuit because of many deaths that happened at the races held there. It is the oldest circuit in croatia and has had a very very crazy history.
There are many more racing events in Croatia but im too lazy to write about them.
Are there any Croatian driver champions? Well yes there is one! His name is Juraj šebalj and his co-driver Toni Klinc, Juraj is a Croatian Rally Champion and he has won 6 Croatian Rally championships in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX.
That is all i have to say for now. Thanks for reading!
