Subaru Impreza for a first car (UK)?

My 17th birthday is now just less that a year away and, as always, I’ve been looking on AutoTrader for potential first cars… Instead of getting the typical Corsa, Polo or Fiesta, I wanted something different, and this is what I came up with! A 2010 Subaru Impreza 1.5R! My question is: Would this be a good first car? Obviously, being a Subaru, it’s AWD, meaning it will be safer in winter, however, I really don’t know what the insurance will be like for this car for a first time driver, bearing in mind this car is in group 12 insurance. Anyone who can help or give any advice will be greatly appreciated… Thanks!

If you can afford the insurance, go for it!

Would be an amazing first car but when i was 17 i had a 1.25 fiesta which was insurance group 13 as it was an old model with no moden safety features. And that cost me £1900 for insurance. So if you can afford the insurance as well as the car, the road tax and the MOT. Then go for it. Just be aware that their if alot more costs then the initial cost of the car. My fiesta cost me £500 and was 1900 to insure and £185 road tax a year for example. Good look on learning to drive.

You should probably get some insurance quotes. If you can afford insurance, get it

I have tried getting quotes for a few cars that I like, and this one is the cheapest… But it needs to have a black box in the car. Idk if most people have these on their first cars or not.

Well my Step Dad has asked me what car I would get for £5000, and this one is £3900… Also I have a year to possibly get a job to save up more money for insurance and tax
