First car struggle #2 Suzuki Swift Sport

It’s finally time for the second part of this series, inspired by Myrmeko’s First. Car. LIVE! series. This time we’ll discuss probably the best Suzuki ever, the 2007 Swift Sport

The Sport was (and still is) the “warmer” version of the regular Swift. It was powered by a 1.6L NA inline-4 capable of 125hp and paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Swift Sport is considered one of the best warm hatches ever made thanks to its small weight and peppy engine, and it’s one of the best if not the best car Suzuki ever offered

Mods

Like with the Panda, the list of mods that I would probably do to this car is short, at only two mods:

1) LPG implant, because, as I already discussed in the original post, running a sporty petrol car here would be pretty expensive, but a LPG implant can dramatically help lowering the costs

2) OZ Superturismo WRC rims (possibly in white if the car is either yellow or black, or black if the car is yellow or red)

Costs and conclusion

The lowest buying price that I found for a Swift Sport in decent conditions is around 3000€ (2733.7£/3496.81USD). To that price, 604.08€ (550.46£/702.14USD) should be added for the change of ownership for a used car, and finally, 261.28€ of yearly taxes (238.09£/304.55USD) and well over 300€ (273.37£/349.68USD) of insurance. The full cost of the mods should be around 1200€ (1093.48£/1398.73USD), with the parts being definitely a bit harder to find when compared to the Panda

Now it’s time to show this lovely Japanese tin can some love with a vote from 0 to 100 down in the comments!

The Panda 100HP got an average vote of 90/100, with as many as two (!) votes getting in.
Thank you for those who voted before and thank you for voting now! Have a good day/night/whatever!

Well. I really like thw swift sport. I think it’s one of the best looking hatchbacks.
Interesting to see your perspective of tuning according to your country’s laws.
I’d say 85/100. Just because LPG will reduce the power a bit and it’s already kinda underpowered as is. Maybe a stage 1 remap would help, since it’s just an optimization and not anything hardware.

The problem with a tune like that is that, when I’ll have to take it for the Italian equivalent of the MOT (necessary every two years), the extra power will result, power that isn’t registered on the circulation papers of the car, and this will be a problem. Registering that increase of power on the circulation papers will solve this problem, but the insurance and the yearly tax will cost more
