Front Axle Separation
So I was driving home yesterday, and for whatever reason my wheel decided it wanted to be free of the control arm… at 60mph, on an interchange. Wheel and family almost completely folded in under the car but fortunately didn’t. This caused the axle to separate from the U-Joint and toss grease everywhere. There’s a missing bolt which is likely the culprit, the axle is intact from my understanding, there appears to be no other damaged parts (aside from my poor rim and tire) I’m seeking advice in regards to the axle. I’m not familiar with process for fixing the axle, if it’s even possible. I’ve read that it is possible if you align the bearing (tulip) to their appropriate slots and slide it back into the U-Joint. I’ve also been told that since it separated it’ll need to be replaced in its entirety.
Any help, advice, guidance or warnings would be appreciated before I get started so I can decide whether to take it to a shop, replace the axle or work with what I have.

Axles are relatively cheap (like $50). Just replace it.
