Well this happened yesterday… f*cking boar.
Yesterday late at night my dad was driving the E91 on à back road. It was pitch black and very foggy. All of a sudden, a wild boar jumped right in front of him (about 5 meters / 20ft) so he barely had time to react. He floored the brake (he was doing 100 km/h or 60 mph) so he hit it with probably around 80-70.
The animal’s fine, it wept then f*cked off.
Luckily only the front bumper has to be replaced, it’s very cleverly made since te car took the shock like a champ. The front right fog light needs replacing and the right xenon light still works but it sorta fell in its housing as you can see below.
Talk about a bad day. Anyway I hope insurance and the BMW dealership will move their a*ses quickly because other than the car not looking great visibility is affected since the right-hand light is pointing down.
I have to say, though that progress in technology is really impressive, a decade ago your car would’ve been screwed if you were to hit such a large animal. The frame is intact, the only damage was done to the bumper and needless to say my dad is perfectly fine (no airbags deployed or SOS system activated).
Hope this doesn’t happen to y’all.
