During my time Here in car throttle i have brought this car up a couple of times and nobody seems to know about this car.
And i still wonder why it is a good looking, super rare, supercharged ohv v8 piece of American goodness
This car was a 1 off prototype created in 1961 by the industrial designer and car lover Brook Stevens, he created a number of cars including the hawk and a beautiful classic which was pretty similar to the Mercedes Benz coach built cars.
The hawk had lots of studobaker mechanicals like the supercharged r-2 engine. And the 4 speed gearbox off the southbend company. The only unique parts were the front suspension and the full fiber glass body.
There were plans of a roadster version of it and a
friend of brooks created it in 1992
The car had a small racing career during 1963-1965
yet it only had one race where it retired. After that the car was kept in storage during some years and then it recently appeared at some classic car functions.
And the car is still owned by the Stevens family
