About another dumpster fire the NFS community created...

So yesterday the new update for NFS Heat dropped, adding 2 new cars. Those 2 being the Mclaren F1 (DLC) and the Aston Martin DB11 Volante (free).
Yet the NFS community is upset about content they finally get… The main complaints I see on the interwebs are these :

-Deluxe edition owners don’t get the DLC for free
-Wanting a different car instead of the Mclaren F1/Aston Martin
-Overpriced (this one really triggers me…)
-No PVP or speedlists

OH LORD AM I ABOUT TO ROAST THEM. I will break down and analyse all 3 of these complaints and say why the community is in the wrong or has no right to complain.

A) “Deluxe edition owners don’t get it free” :
I’m going to quite slaptrain from his most recent video but he stated “This is what you get from the deluxe edition: The KS cars, exclusive clothing items and a valuta+rep boost. No mention of free DLC or a season pass”.
There you have it. It NEVER was mentioned that the deluxe edition would contain a season pass. I can only blame the obliviousness of the person who didn’t read between the lines. Congratulations, you shot yourself in the foot.

B) “Nobody asked for insert car, give us insert car“:
Now, I understand everybody has their preferences and i absolutely respect it… unless you rant about it. Then I just can’t.
Personally, I’m not a fan of the Aston either. I think it’s a bad car as for what it is: A DB11 we can buy in the dealership with a retractable roof… That’s it. The only thing that makes the car worthwhile and somewhat unique is the KS bodykit. I think that gives the car enough merrit to make me accept it and i seem to really grow to the car. So yeah, I can let the DB11 volante pass my critique.
What nobody seems to get is that not every time a developer can go into the communities wishes for a car, especially now with the big Criterion shakeup. Licensing and internal factors also play a big part in this. Honestly, this just shows how much respect the community doesn’t have towards Ghost.

C)”The DLC is overpriced” :
…Do people really think they have to pay 5 euros (or whatever it’s priced) for JUST THE CAR? Let’s go over what the DLC pack contains. You get the following :
-The car with good customisation
-Clothing items
-A mini campaign
Honestly, if you look at what you get for 5 euros, it’s a fair asking price IMO.
This I blame on yet again the community for not understanding the value of money and being oblivious. I’m repeating myself at this point…

D) “Where is speedlists” :
I’m not that big of an open lobby racer so I personally don’t really care about PVP or ranked but guys PLEASE… This is something that takes A LOT of time to develop, something Ghost doesn’t really have with the recent big news. Impatience is what I could blame here. And that’s all I could say about this subject really…

A special mention should be made for what I believe is 50% of the problem: the main racing game YouTubers who feature NFS content. Yes AR12 and blackpanthaa, I’m looking at you. They fail to look from a general unbiased viewpoint on these kinds of subjects and just add fuel to the fire. Their influence cause to spread this wildfire even faster with no hope of slowing it down.

You might wonder how I think about the update… So, I’ll tell you.
For what this update represents, it’s very solid. 2 new cars (one is free), new races and new vanity items. I can definitely praise Ghost for delivering this good of an update if you consider what they are going through right now. Although it doesn’t solve everything, I can cut them some slack for the more laid back approach to updates.

I just want to finish this post by saying that I REALLY don’t like making these kinds of posts, especially when it’s about the community of a game. The last time I had to something like this was with FH4’s Lego speed champions expansion… and here we are today with an even worse community than FH4’s… I legit thought that it was impossible for an even worse racing game community to exist. I will admit that I was kinda in their myself but after reading the news with the criterion shakeup, I felt like I got an answer why this was happening and so I sympathised with Ghost.
It’s the attitude that the NFS community has towards Ghost and EA that is causing this. And this time, I don’t see any hope for change.

Hopefully, my next post is a bit more positive…
