You get a call from your favorite car manufacturer and they decide to appoint you as chief engineer for a car that you like. What car would it be and why?
Mines would be the M4, because while I think it’s a great car, it needs to up it’s game in terms of Price, Performance, and the Engine. First thing i’d do is chop the price of $60k by at least $10k-$15k for the base next-gen m4 with at least 450 HP, making it $45k or so. The maximum M4 competition pack should be equipped with the same powerful-enough V8 powertrain making 600 HP at least $60K-$70k. Reasonably priced to rival the range-topping Camaro ZL1 and Mustang GT350/500. Make the base 2 door 4 series a more sporty, affordable alternative to the GT and SS starting at $30k around. Also add a reliable, strong, brilliantly sounding N/A Flat Plane BMW V8 block and make it cater to the young enthusiasts. I would also work to make the manuals engage even more brilliantly and also improve the steering rack as well as work on an even more world-class magnetic ride suspension. Just make it the overall driver’s car with a bit of aero. Also make it lighter, not lighter as in 10-20 pounds, but rather a few hundred would be great. Premium or not I’d love to make car manufacturers better. BMW needs to go back to the E series days.
