#CTVariety The FIAT Coupé 20V Turbo

The FIAT Coupé 20V Turbo was the Coupé’s top spec and was equipped with a turbocharged 2litre Inline-5 engine, coupled to a six speed transmission and powering the front wheels. With 217hp and a weight of 1310kg the car was able to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in only 6.5 seconds (6.3s for the Turbo Plus) and was capable of a top speed of 250 km/h (240km/h in the case of the earlier five-speed gearbox). At the time it was released it was the fastest FWD car in the world and even more than 20 years later it’s still the fastest car FIAT ever built.

The exterior was designed by Chris Bangle and FIAT’s own design center Centro Stile, while Pininfarina was responsible for the interior design.

In my opinion the 5 cylinder sounds simply amazing, but here’s a video for you, so that you can make your own impressions of it.
If it would have been RWD, it might have become one of the coolest cars of the European 90s, but even with front wheel drive, it still is an amazing car and on the way to become an absolute classic. It might be about the last time you can get one of these relatively cheap, because prices will most likely increase a lot over the next years.
Sadly the car experienced the same fate so many Fieros experienced in the USA. Many of them were turned into crappy looking “Ferraris” like this one here (and that’s by far not the worst of them).
