And if it is m52 and the ecu code is ms41 some thing it is easy to remap
To be honest. I think if you really want more power get a turbo. Which is expensive. So get another car or engine. But if 20 ps more are enough for you go with typical non thurbo tuning. Which isnt really cheap for just a few HP..

Yes I know, engine swap is what I wanted to do but I live in a very small island, madeira island in Portugal and here there’s not much e36 with 2.8 or even 2.5 mostly 1.6 and 1.8 and to shed an engine over to here it’s very expensive
Pretty much and bmw 6 cylinder engine will drop in. Wouldnt have to be an e36 donor. Good luck!

Here is the deal, your block has 80mm cylinders, the s50b30/2 jas 86mm and m50b25/8 have 84mm. If you want to make NA power, you might as well bode your cylinders to 86mm ( or buy an s50b32) and get a internals that fit the s50b32. this will bump your engine from 2.0 to 3.0 or more. it will make around 300hp. you will also need to tune the engine and lift the rev limit to 7.5/8k. If you want to make boosted power, a small turbo will make 260hp with stock internals. both ways cost a lot of money (have at least 5000€ before you start). If you only want 20/30hp, go for a stroker. you can find a guide for that on mywikimotors m50b20. Eu sei como é, se no continente é tudo caro nas sucatas, imagino na madeira. Eu fiz isso ao meu 325i. comprei um s50b30 e troquei peças( o bloco do s50 já tinha ido ao ar) e ainda consegui recuperar o dinheiro a vender o que tirei do m50. Se tiveres a oportunidade de vir ao Continente, procura nas maiores sucatas, eles têm de tudo, e ainda aproveitas para comprar a caixa e diferencial.
