Nissan Might Reduce GT-R Volume, Pares Trim Level To One
We've seen about two Nissan GT-R's in the wild over the past few weeks, and they look just as good out on the road as they do in pictures, on auto show stands and in dealership showrooms.
We've seen about two Nissan GT-R's in the wild over the past few weeks, and they look just as good out on the road as they do in pictures, on auto show stands and in dealership showrooms.
But, if it looks like we could be seeing less of them on the road if new reports are accurate. There are some changes for the 2011 model year that we do know for sure though.
The GT-R lineup in the United States has been paired down to one trim level, Premium, and it gets some mild updates like suspension tuning, a double clear coat on its front and rear fascias, new rear cooling ducts and other detail tweaks.
This comes at a price of $85,060, up by $1,020 over the 2010 model year GT-R Premium. Ouch. This is the third year of the GT-R being sold in the U.S, and the original car started out at $69,850.
That is quite a bit more expensive. Regarding volume limiting, enthusiast website Nagtroc.org reports that just 315 GT-Rs are destined for our shores for the 2011 model year. Oddly enough, there are 700 dealers certified to sell the GT-R. Nissan won't comment either way. Interesting - some are speculating that if it does happen it is due to an update for GT-R slated to come for the 2012 model year.
