Audi has been on a tear lately, with its lineup of new models impressing critics, consumers and enthusiasts alike. We're particularly happy with the performance models that have been coming from the brand.
Regardless, with a larger lineup than ever, Audi has been on a sales roll - so much so in fact, that it has already surpassed its record high sales mark set in the heady days of 2007.
Earlier this week Audi logged its 93,507th transaction in the United States for 2010. The previous record stood at 93,506 and Audi says that it is likely to surpass the 100,000 mark by the end of the year.
This increasing momentum has been felt globally as well, with sales in China up by a staggering 50 percent, to 209,000 vehicles sold.
That tally is nearly enough to eclipse Audi's largest market, Germany. Audi expects China to surpass Germany as its largest market next year. That is an amazing fact and a very different case than it is with other luxury manufacturers, where the U.S is a more important market.
Audi has a lot of room to grow in the U.S, as its market share is smaller than in other countries. The U.S ranks at number four in volume, coming in behind the United Kingdom, China and Germany.
Globally, Audi's overall sales are expected to come in at around 1.08 million, up 14 percent from Audi's record-breaking 2009 global tally. It's great to see Audi emerging as a strong competitor in the luxury segment and with a strong lineup, we expect the success to only continue in 2011.
