How expensive would it be for them to do that versus the relatively small number of potential buyers? It would take tens of thousands of engines to amortize the cost of retooling an engine plant, especially for an engine a decade out of production.
No, what Toyota needs to do is make the UZ and UR engines easier to modify, then they can compete with GM and their crate engines.
Don’t get me wrong they are great engines. But technology didn’t stand still. There are engines with way higher specific output, better fuel economy,and are smaller. I’m a huge JDM fanboy but I wouldn’t be a real petrolhead if I didn’t acknowledge that there are better engines out there. I hate to say it, and I’ll problably get a lot of hate for this but LSX engines are superior.
