A Nissan Skyline Autech Version has come up for sale

If you read my last post about the 12 cars I’d most likely own, then you might have seen the tail light and a mention of this.

This is a Nissan Skyline R32 Autech Version - it is a 4-door R32 GTS-4 with the engine swapped for an RB26DE making 220HP.
It is specially tuned to run without a turbo, with ITB’s and extractors to aid with throttle response.

These were only produced with a 4-speed automatic gearbox and in Autech’s signature olive green paint. It is incredibly difficult to find an original example since they were often modified to have the RB26DETT twin turbo set-up, or worse, the engine taken out and placed in a “restomod” hakosuka build and scrapped where the panels would eventually go to other R32’s for a GT-R lookalike build.

It seems that whoever owned this car wasn’t a fan of the GT-R front and have removed the grille slats and replaced the Autech front bumper with a rounded off bumper reminiscent of an R33.

Above we have the signature green RB26DE cambelt and camshaft covers, while below we have another photo of the rear showing the Skyline26 badge only ever found on the Autech R32.

This car has an asking price of 1,380,000jpy or $18,000nzd. In case you were wondering, yes Autech did put an RB26DETT into an R33 sedan to make a 4-door GT-R.

It’s not a bad price, the question though is, are you able to afford it? Would you sell your r34 in order to buy this? Would you go in debt just for this car? Autotech r32s this nice won’t come up too often, think about it. I would like to see you post it on the garage section :p

Will take a year of saving up and selling my car. I love the idea of saving a rare car from being modified too much (I would only swap the suspension for good KYB - factory struts would have worn down and needed replacing anyway). In NZ the first generation of Mazda MX6 is quite rare and someone has a manual GT version for sale that I am weighing up whether or not to buy. I have driven a few second generation MX6s and my dad has a Mazda Capella with 560,000Km on it which is basically the same as an MX6.
On the other hand I applied for a new job which will potentially give me an extra $20,000 a year. If I get that job there will be a few changes in my garage.
