"Debadging" the Evo X

Ever since I bought the car a few weeks ago I always wanted to do this. After some research and unsuccessful shopping I finally got round to “debadging” the Evo X.

Now, some may wonder, why? Well I don’t necessarily hate the factory badges but with the combination of the dealership sticker and the overall busyness of the badges I never loved them. It always felt cluttered. It didn’t put the Evolution brand front and center, and with those beautiful lights the boot can speak for itself so why bother.

Beyond that, in Durban South Africa where I live, Evo’s are super rare and I wanted to add to the mystic by removing any formal branding adding to the allure of “what car is that” for many non car people.

The process was quite simple in the end although required patience. All the forum posts talked about removing the sticky backing with a product called “Goo-Gone”. However, in South Africa asking for it was only met with blank stares and confusion at the name…. clearly I wasn’t winning.

In the end it turned out that some very thin fishing line, some WD-40, Autobody Tar Remover, a smooth plastic spatula and ALOT of patience was all that was required.

I had ordered the following badges (got Silver and Black) prior to doing this.

But now I am not sure if I should install them since it looks so clean. What do you think, please let me know in the comments below?
