Might buy a gti. How many miles they last?

Like the title says looking at buying a gti. A Manual with 110k popped up for a pretty good deal, but don’t know how long to expect it to last. I learned to not trust the 100 k and sell deal everyone does with my current dd. 308k on a car known for breaking down and only done a clutch and normal maintenance. I know a gti prob won’t last 300 with out problems but can ya get 200-250 if ya take care of it? Have a s2000 that I track so won’t be pushing it to hard just want a fun dd.

If daily is what you want get a 2.5 rabbit and just put a little money to fun parts and comfort the motor is way more reliable and is a beast of a motor

There’s a load on the Internet where I live with 200k miles so that’s a good sign that they will last. Just check for rust, but the engine should be fine, especially if it’s stock still

Cars last as long as you make them last the minute you get lazy is the minute things start breaking and usually all at the same time

The 2.0t is a bad engine reliability wise. 2.5 is a better engine for daily driving. Only 30bhp less and it takes regular octane. With a “simple” kit. You can make 218bhp and still more be reliable than a gti.

You’d want to get the rabbit with the 2.5 5 cylinder. That motor is a tank and is simply made. The 2.0t can be reliable stock but like every other turbo car, you’ll eventually have tk rebuilt some components.

The 2.5 is perfect for daily driving. They sound nice and have pretty good torque. In addition the gas mileage is good too.

I have the 2.0 FSI. So far its been good to me. I had the rebuild the heads because the last owner abused the car and broke a lot of sh!t. But when l drove it from the used car dealer, it was fine. I ran on 2 cylinders for about a month and had no idea.

But yeah if you want a simple daily, the 5 cylinder is what you want
