it's possible to fix the gear stick "free play"?

my dad’s Lanos from 2000, like all cars with age i think
have some free play, and make a small loose sound while operating
can it be fixed? is worth it?

thanks in advance guys

Probably bushings or the ball in the shifter. They tend to wear over time. I replaced the bushings on my bimmer and the shifter is much more crisp.

are they a hard to find replacement? it’s hard to change?
i’m sure the bushing that connects gear stick mechanism with gearbox fork is worn out, but it doesn’t look replaceable since it doesn’t have visible bolts to dismount it

Remove the shifter boot. You’ll see the ball and some bushings for the shifter. There’s other ones on top of the trans too and under the car or near the firewall where the shifter linkage comes out
