The Stig - Who is behind the white helmet?

We all know and love the Stig, Top Gear’s tame racing driver. He is a stupidly fast driver, his identity is hidden since 14 years, he doesn’t say anything and Clarkson makes jokes of him. I have researched to get to know who is behind the white Simpson-helmet and why nobody knows about his identity.

Why is his identity secret?

Actually, it is obvious : The Stig and Jeremy’s jokes of him are sort of a running gag throug the hole TV show . Without the secret identity, the show would be maybe half as funny as it is. The Stig is part of the character of Top Gear and also takes part in some challanges. Without him, TG wouldn’t have all these gags, jokes and all the fun.

The Stig’s cousins

Another running gag with the Stig are his many different cousins. He has for example a trucker cousin (Fat Stig), a German cousin (Herr Stig, meeeeeeeeeee :D) and a “gentleman” cousin (Bunga Bunga Stig). Each of his cousins has it’s own personality and specialties. Fat Stig for example is good at driving trucks, while his Chinese cousin only drives chinese cars.

So now let’s get to the point!

It seems that Top Gear had three different Stigs:

2002-2003: Perry McCarthy
2003-2010: Ben Collins
2010-today: unknown

Although Top Gear showed that Michael Schumacher the real Stig is Link to the video, it seems that he isn’t. Some people even say that Ben Collins wasn’t The Stig, they think that since 2003 there were seven different people behind the white helmet.

After 13 years lack of knowledge we still don’t know who our tame racing driver is…
