E30 316i + M54B30 ???

Does anyone have any experience with a swap like that?
I was looking up stuff but because of my lack of experience I have nooooo idea what im doing… any experts here knowing if thats possible? What transmission would I need? 5gears? 6gears? Can I keep the old one?

get donor car. swap all in from that. but e30 guys recomend swaping m50 or m52. mutch simpler

like the other guy said, grab a donor car and swap it all over. OEM parts should fit on most things, I think E36 motor mounts fit

Use a e36 trans i have heard that works and then i guess u need a custom driveshaft

I personally haven’t done it, but I know how to do it. First off lets talk about transmissions. The 5 or 6 speed debate is going to come down to your personal preference. The Getrag 420g can be used in combination with a custom transmission brace, e36 M3 6 speed shifter linkage, and a e36 328i auto driveshaft. You can also use a Zf 6 speed, but it requires a custom shifter linkage. If you go 5 speed then just follow any other 24v swaps instructions.

Personally I’d try to find a e39 530i auto to pull the engine from, but any car will do. Also using a engine harness from the Z3 3.0 because it is routed the the e30/e36 chassis. Use a e34 M50 oil pan and a oil pick up from a e38 728i. Use a e46 M3 FPR housing, but with a M54 FPR. Modified E90 heater hoses will hook up to the e30 chassis. Z3 radiator, with Z3 coolant hoses, e36 OBD2 exhaust manifolds, Porsche 944 brake booster, e39 530i intake boot, and custom power steering and AC lines. You’ll have to find someone over there to flash it, but there are people in the US that can flash the ECU for you. Same goes for the wiring, there are people over here than can do it, if you can’t find anyone over there.

I found a, if i recall correctly, E39 530i that i could buy and use all the parts from does that sound good?
