2004 Honda Civic hybrid transmission dead!
I have a 2004 Honda Civic hybrid with only 100,000 miles and surprisingly the transmission is bad. Just the transmission costs like $2000 from what I’ve seen and many mechanics completely reject you if you ask them to do the labor on the car. The car is in pristine condition, before it broke down it would just stutter on first gear and then it’d be fine. Any advice on how to get it fixed? In case you’re wondering I’m from Cali

If you can’t replace it yourself, you’ll have to bite the bullet and have a dealership cut your wallet open. Weigh that price against a new car/trade in
As much as i love honda’s this is actually typical of there automatic transmissions. Honestly salvage yards like pick and pull will do a trans install for a good used transmission for less, though its possible youll have the same issues eventually with that.. Honestly either way youll take a bath.. Maybe part it out and buy a new car is a better bet..
I’m not familiar with their setup but I think they use an e-machine in between the engine and transmission. So this is more involved than a typical trans swap as you want someone who is hybrid certified working on it. If you feel the car is worth keeping you’re gonna have to man up and take it to Honda
I have a car now but this car is just sitting around, tbh were not really looking to keep it, we’re just looking to get rid of it because we’re paying insurance for it monthly, and every year dmv sends us fees, so we might as well get rid of it
Go to youtube and watch video on how to take one out, go to junkyard and pull one, then pull yours out and put the junkyard one in, thats what i did with my Accord
