turbocharger or supercharger (is it possible?) for a 330i

I want to work the perf. of the 330i, and was wondering wether it s better to use a turbocharger kit or a supercharger. I have been told the turbocharger was a great choice and was very useful, could be used on low-mid rpm, and could even save gas, but for an inexperimented buddy ( as I am) it s harder to install then a supercharger. (and gotta say i love the sound of the supercharger).
so what would you guys advice? wich one has the best quality/£ ratio and fun?

I know they have been supercharged a lot. Don’t know about turbos tho.

Superchargers are used much more frequently for m54’s, there are a couple turbo kits out there but the cost is quite a bit more

Superchargers are cheaper, and if you buy a kit, come with the tune thats proven.

There are a couple companies that make them for the e46. There’s ESS that makes a Twin Screw and Active Autowerke that makes a Centrifugal. Google search those for pros and cons of each.

There is an awesome turbo kit for the ZHP by technique Tunning but it should be compatible to a base 330i

A small turbo is used for low rpms and a bigger one for higher rpms as they take longer to spoil and they’re not reading available at low rpms. Super chargers on the other hand give you more power in the lower rpms and give good power in the highs. Granted turbos are more efficient when tuned properly, a supercharger takes power to make power since its pulley based and not on exhaust

Why not spend the cash upgrading to an M3? You’ll end up with about the same performance as an M3 supercharging or a basic turbo kit but the rest of the M3’s driveline is far superior to a regular E46. If you’re going to add 50% more power to a 330i you’ll struggle with the rear end, the auto, the brakes and suspension.

i know the m3 is more powerful and all, it s more expensiv (you are going to say at the end it will be the same cost) but won t be the same feeling of building the car by yourself wich is what im looking for ;)
who knows, maybe ill try and put a s54 in the 330i in few years to do a 330iM3
