How Mazda saved Japan in WW2 #Blogpost

December 7th. 1941. Japan Attacks Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. 2400 soldiers dead, 21 ships, gone, 188 air crafts, kaput. Japan got pissed. They had trade deals pushed aside, trade bans placed on their items and heck, they also wanted the strongest Navy in the world. America, like any county, got pissed. After extensive testing, the US sent a plane, Enola Gay (which I’ve seen. It’s huge), carrying bomb known as known as Little boy. The plane took off at 2:45. 6 hours later, and at 8:15 on a Friday morning, the three planes arrive. One carrying the bomb, one carrying cameras, and the other, equipment. The bomb drops. 45 seconds later.

Just about everything is gone. Over 100,00 people gone. Some engraved forever in “shadows” while others left to die from radiation. The US wanted to show it was better then Japan by ending it quickly. Quickly also meant thousands of lives lost and millions injured. This was truly a sad sad moment in time. There was something left standing…

Just kidding. It was Mazda’s plant.

Thank God for Natural formations, right? The park, Ogonzon, which was pretty big and if you live somewhere like me where hills aren’t big and mountains are just hills, this could be considered a mountain. The really tall hill deflected the blast away from the plant, sparing it. Hiroshima’s officials, with no office building to go to, evacuate to the humble little automaker’s factory. At this time the factory wasn’t making cars. Instead it was housing victims and officials and helping produce the materials needed to rebuild the city.

Now it’s produced everything from…

RX7s!

Miatas!

Autozams!

RX5s!

Cosmoooooo!

Whatever the H*** this is!

124s (the new one)

There’s just so much this has made. In fact, there’s a likely chance you know someone who owns a car from here. There’s just sooooo many of them!
