This photo above is from this awesome DIY I found while looking into Dzus fasteners
The rest are from all over the internets
Why bother? How do you say it?
It’s pronounced “Zeus” and they’ve been around forever. They’ve been used on race cars, airplanes, the list goes on. If you end up taking the front off the racecar pretty often, this is one of the best ways to do it. And if you’re like me, it’s cheaper to buy these than it is to buy the proper bumper hardware the previous owner forgot to put back on the car. You get really excited, throw these in your cart, and decide not enough people know about them.
Nifty
The bar spring attaches behind what you’re mounting to (in this case the car) and the other plate attaches to your panel (bumper) and holds a spring loaded stud that locks onto the bar spring, and moves itself out of the way with a quarter turn
Better than hairties!
This guy even includes links to summit, and arguably the cheapest Dzus fasteners you’ll find that aren’t made of tin foil. My condolences to our brothers and sisters overseas. You may have to shell out the extra $5 and get them somewhere else.
Important:
you need both the fasteners and the “weld” plates. They’ll rivet in just fine after you drill and countersink holes in them. Links are on his page. I’d rather not link Summit business straight from my profile. Its a little tacky.
