How to lower/lift solid axle on leafs
It has come to my attention that some people don’t actually know this. So i posted this pic in case there still are people who don’t know this thing.
The axle is attached to the leaf springs which are attached to the car.. If you move the axle under the leaf spring, you can lift your rear end.. some times just to look cool.. But if you wan’t to lower your rear end, all you need to do is just get a block under the axle between the leaf spring and axle.. Some people have even used hockey pucks there..

True but it can potentially cause excess wear on your driveline because it operates at a different angle to the diff compared to stock.
Not really if the drive shaft U joints are both in the same angle.
I did this to a 1950 Chevy 3100 to lower it
Wow! unstable
It’s not really. They even sell raising/lowering blocks of metal for US cars.
Or just add shocks to replace the block of metal in your sketch 😎
Oh really? You think it’s so simple to add shocks? Something smells like “i’ve never done it before talk” AKA bs.
NO NO NO this is NOT how you do it
This is exactly how you do it.
Why spend money on these:

It’s just a block of metal. You can do the same thing back home using pretty much anything that won’t rot away like a hockey puck grinded to shape.. The axle always has U bolts that clamp it against the leaf spring and the leaf spring has 4 holes for the U bolts so no matter what you put in there, the axle will not move
The block of metal is usually welded to the axle housing, also placing the axle on top of the leaf springs can help reduce axle wrap. Which can help improve traction
The reason why the block isn’t welded is because the leaf spring perch has a stud in it. And the block of metal has a hole in it.. (or reversed) but the deal is, the stud goes in the hole and locks the block in place. So it’s exactly like putting a lego piece there. The block will not move because the stud keeps it in center and the U bolts hold it in the sides so it can’t spin. So there is no need to weld it.
When i bought a U bolt kit for my dodge when i swapped a bigger locked rear end on it, the U bolts came with lower/lift blocks. And they had a stud in the other side and hole in the other side.
