Potential Project!

In the winter/new year, I am thinking of starting an automotive project in my spare time. What I’m planning on doing, is buying myself a VW EOS (with the 2.0 TFSI), and the front end from a VW Scirocco of the same age, and then, you guessed it, putting the EOS front end on the Scirocco.

As some of you may be aware, there are 3 or 4 EOS/Scirocco combinations around, so it’s certainly something which has been done before. What would make mine different, is that I’m planning to do mine all myself, which is where my questions come in.

What I would like to ask is:

  • How much would this cost, outside of the purchase of the EOS?
  • How difficult would this be?
  • What would the insurance situation be like with such a specialist car?
  • Would you CTzens like to see my progress?

Now, because I will be doing this myself, while having the car as my main mode of transport to/from school, it will take a while. I am hoping, however, to have the project completed before summer ‘17, so I can enjoy it then. Because I’m a student, I would be working to a very tight budget, so will more than likely just wrap the whole car to a certain colour, rather than fully spraying it from the start, and any fabrication work will be being done myself. This means I can fully document the process for you guys, if you’re interested.

Don’t you want to put the Scirocco-front on the EOS instead?

If you need the car as a daily during the conversion-time: Forget it.
I’ve seen a well documented conversion, which was done pretty fast, and the car was still off the streets for weeks.
