Williams Racing have signed 21-year-old W Series Championship leader Jamie Chadwick to their Driver Academy, and with that, she has become the teams development driver..
This is a similar role to Alfa Romeo’s Tatiana Calderon, current Arden F2 driver. Jamie now holds the role that Susie Wolff (Yes, Toto’s wife) stepped down from a few seasons ago.
She will work closely with Robert Kubica, George Russell and Nicolas Latifi to help understand and develop the cars more. She will also make a professional appearance at three European races this season - starting with the British GP in July.
Could this be the move she needs to finally make the step up to F1? Could she possibly be a replacement for one of their current driver’s should they move on?
Maybe she could be the first female to start an F1 race since Lella Lombardi in 1976..
