Even longer to wait for the C8
The C8 is a landmark car - the first mid-engined Corvette, offering a new level of performance for its market. Deliveries for the C8 were originally planned for the end of 2019. However, that has been pushed back several months, to February of 2020.
The recent United Auto Workers strike delayed production of existing C7 orders at the Bowling Green factory. After that has been completed, the facilities will need to be retooled for the C8. The UAW strike pushed that timeline back.
With this delay confirmed until February, C8 convertible production will certainly be affected. That was intended to begin in the spring of 2020. Chevrolet has not commented on that, but it will likely be pushed to the second quarter of the year.
We’ll just have to wait a bit longer for the new Corvette.
