So it turns out my car doesn't have rear speakers... Subwoofer time?

I was cleaning my car and for the first time sitting in the back when my phone connected all of the sudden and music started playing. Thought it sounded a bit quiet and I soon discovered why. Now, there’s no point in adding speakers to the back, wiring and hassle aren’t worth it in a small city car (2008 twingo GT) but I always wanted a subwoofer and a clean install like this would be orgasmic. Anyone have any idea where I could find a speaker that fits? So far I’ve been unsuccessful. The hole itself is about 5 inches in diameter and screw hole to screw hole 6 inches.

To be honest, I wouldn’t even try to install a 4,5-5” Subwoofer on that door panel, it would just rattle a lot and be annoying.

I’d recommend you start by upgrading the front speakers to a good 2-way set, I have these in my ‘96 Renault Clio RSi and they sound very good:

And for the subwoofer, the best option is to buy a 1-channel amplifier and a closed subwoofer box if you want to save space. The subwoofer in the picture is a very good and compact sub which has a wide frequency playback range and it’s pretty small. It’s called the “Alpine Type-R SWR 12D2 + Box” - combo.

You don’t have to fit any rear speakers into the doorpanels if you don’t want to, when you’re sitting on the drivers seat the back speakers don’t matter that much. But if you want, you can buy a cheaper 2-way set and install it so the passengers can hear music a bit better.
