DIY engine block de-rusting.

So did a test of using electrolysis to clean the old rusty engine block from rust and loose paint.
Turned out really good, but my power source was a little bit on the weak side! I used water and baking soda, but also added a little bit of washing powder.

The engine block had to be brushed afterwards and cleaned with a degreaser. Only because the worst rust just loosen up on the engine block, but doesn’t come off until wiped off.
Surface rust forms really quick afterwards it comes out of the electrolysis bath so had to be quick to get everything off and put a protecting oil film on top.

However now it is ready to get resurfaced and soon be put together with fully forged internals, 800hp here we come!

Resurfacing the deck of the engine block with a big stable surface grinder with a quite large magnetic table. Grinder wheel type surface grinder.

Getting the cylinder head resurfaced aswell, so the deck straightness and parallelism should be less than 0.01mm within of eachother. Perfect seal for a lot of power and with the head reinforcement this should be crazy good👌
