Updated Audi E-Tron GT Previewed In Prototype Form

The mid-life facelift for Audi’s low-slung electric four-door will follow in the footsteps of its sibling, the updated Porsche Taycan

Just as sure as day follows night, an updated version of the Audi e-tron GT is set to follow that of the closely related Porsche Taycan. Ahead of a full reveal that’ll presumably come in the next few months, Audi has released a few images of the new car testing and, sure enough, it doesn’t appear to stray too far from the original.

After all, it didn’t really need to, did it? The e-tron GT launched in 2020 as the second e-tron-badged electric Audi, and it’s still the only one in the family that’s not a crossover SUV type thing – and didn’t it want you to know it? It’s never lacked kerb appeal, and even in prototype camouflage, we can tell Audi hasn’t gone wild with the changes.

There’s perhaps a slightly softer front-end treatment, and it looks as if the current car's distinctive black 'mask' might be toned down a little – although that could just be a trick of the camo.

Don’t expect too much to change underneath either: at present, the e-tron GT comes in two forms, both with dual motor arrangements. The base car makes 469bhp, and that figure rises to 590bhp in the RS e-tron GT. We’d bet on the lineup staying the same, especially as Audi tries to streamline its often-complicated trim offerings.

A slight uptick in power is likely, but even the RS version probably won’t trouble the updated Taycan in its hottest forms – and we definitely wouldn’t bank on an Audi equivalent to the mad, 1100bhp two-seater Taycan Turbo GT Weissach.

Like power, the price will probably also rise a little from the current entry points of £86,585 for the base car and £120,515 for the RS. By the looks of things, we don’t have too long to wait to find out and see it in full.
