This Unbelievable Wreck Was Caught Driving With Its Suspension Held Together By A Scarf

Police in the UK have stopped a car whose suspension was being held together with a wheel clamp, a scarf and a bike lock-style chain.

Described by the police as ‘one of the worst cars ever examined’, the vehicle – an old Suzuki Swift – is an absolute wreck. The driver’s side door panel looks like it has seen the wrong end of a crowbar at the front edge, the front wing has extensive damage and there’s at least one tyre that’s so illegal it’s down to the carcass.

Derbyshire Roads Police stopped the offending rustbucket and promptly condemned it to be crushed. They tweeted these pictures along with the hashtag #DeathTrap. We can’t argue with that.

We have to say we’re a bit shocked by these shots. Even bearing in mind how little some people care about their cars and keeping them road-legal, this is a bad one. Let’s all just hope those people never come anywhere near us!

Why does everyone crush cars? Why not at least take usable bits out for those in need? It may be mechanically past it, but I see a perfectly saleable interior. Just because a car isn’t road worthy doesn’t mean that everything on the car needs to be destroyed. That’s like throwing away a rotting away kennel when there’s still a healthy dog in it. Get the good, usable stuff out first

I get your point and I think the same, but it’s too much fluff for the rozzers to be dealing with. Much easier to get it crushed and the material sent to be recycled than confiscating and auctioning it off for somebody that needs the parts.

That courier van was better. Slicks on front, brake pads metal to metal with discs and no brake fluid. Car has 14k on speedo.
