Slovenian Supercar: T500 Shakes its Tush

Here on Car Throttle we’ve already seen some sexy new metal from unlikely places in the form of the curvy Croatian Rimac Concept_One and the brute from Beirut, the W Motors Hyper-Sport.

Here on Car Throttle we’ve already seen some sexy new metal from unlikely places in the form of the curvy Croatian Rimac Concept_One and the brute from Beirut, the W Motors Hyper-Sport.

And today’s we-didn’t-know-that-country-made-any-interesting-cars moment comes courtesy of the Tushek Renovatio T500 - catchy name – which hails from Slovenia and will be making its UK debut at Salon Privé on the 5th September.

Now Slovenia’s entry to the supercar arena may not have the absolutely brutal performance of the new Croatian and Lebanese debutants, but what it does have is a rev-hungry Audi 4.2-litre V8 with 444bhp stuffed behind the driver’s seat.

Considering that the T500 weighs in at just over 1,100kg, or roughly the same as a MINI Cooper, we think that’s enough and the sound effects should be phenomenal. The T500 can scamper its way to 62mph in 3.7 seconds and doesn’t top out until 193mph so you won’t lose many traffic light drag races in this.

It does look like the Slovenians have dropped the ball when it comes to styling though with the T500 failing to look as mean as the Hyper-Sport or as beautiful as the Rimac. Rather like those Slovenian Eurovision singers that are so close to looking stunning but have Little Miss Piggy’s nose, something’s just wrong about the T500’s proportions despite some of the details being nicked from Lamborghinis and Ferraris.

The T500 should prove pretty handy on the road though with its lean, lightweight construction and mid-engined layout. With 19-inch alloys shod in semislick racing tyres this car can produce immense lateral g-force of 1.7g and should you desire you can spec a supercharger to boost power up to 523bhp. Weirdly though, you can even plug your iPod straight into this T500 and can spec sat nav and a video parking system if the mood takes you.

As this is Tushek’s first model we’re interested to see what else they’ve got up their sleeve. But we sincerely hope that whatever they come up with has a slightly lower price than the 300,000 euro price tag on the made-to-order T500.
