For Sale: Maybach 57, Two Previous Owners (Jay-Z & Kanye West), $100,000

When Mr Z and Mr West teamed up to make the album, Watch The Throne, they insisted on 'doing something big' for the music video of their second single, Otis. Being rappers with pockets deeper than the Pacific Ocean, they decided to buy a Maybach 57 for a cool $350,000 (which the trusty converter tells me is £220,465). As it would be the star of the show, the standard car wasn't good enough for them so it needed a few tweaks.

At the start of the video, the lovely Maybach is just sitting outside a collection of blue garages but next to it is a team of people in white suits, which leaves you quite curious. The next thing you see is a blowtorch and a circular saw come into shot. Dear Lord!

Changes they made to the Maybach included taking off the roof and all the doors plus replacing the bonnet lid with the boot lid and vice versa. They even put on what looks like giant steel wheel arches and parts of the roof on the rear deck to look like wings. Did I mention flames shooting out of the back?

The result was a giant piece of... 'hip hop history' and now you can get your hands on it, if you feel so inclined. The car goes up for auction on March 8th at Phillips de Pury Auction House, New York, and they expect it to sell for $100,000. You're joking, right!? I can't wait to meet the moron who will pay that much for that piece of... art. Still, at least the proceeds go to Save The Children.
