CarThrottle just reviewed the 2011 Nissan 370Z, and we remarked it is a car that lives up true to the cachet of the original launched many years ago.
To celebrate that history, Nissan is announcing a new special edition commemorating 40 years of sale in the United Kingdom. The 370Z GT Edition takes cues from its racing past and primarily focuses on tweaks to the overall package.
Three body colors are available - Pearl White, Kuro (Metallic) Back and Black Rose, which is exclusive to the GT Edition. The GT Edition pays homage to the original Z with side body stripes. All versions of the car feature 19-inch RAYS forged alloy wheels finished in dark anthracite.
Underneath the skin, Nissan's engineers at the Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE) returned the suspension to better perfect the balance between ride comfort and high-speed driving.
Nissan offered these European-focused changes given that European drivers usually travel at higher average speeds than those elsewhere in the world. The Z has seen complaints from some over road noise, and new insulation has been applied to address these concerns.
As for standard equipment, the GT Edition adds a tire pressure monitoring system and a rear-view parking camera to go along with the Premium Connect navigation system. The Z's seven-speed automatic option now has a new snow mode that sets the car off in second gear, controlling engine revs to prevent wheel spin on ice or snow.
This mode is quite interesting and very welcomed as one of the issues we experienced during our test of the Nissan 370Z was its snow abilities (or lack thereof).
The Nissan 370Z GT Edition doesn't appeared as if it will be offered in United States at the moment, and it isn't clear if any of its other modifications will be making their way to the standard car. The GT Edition goes on sale in the UK beginning June 1st, priced at a steep £35,000 (about $56K USD at current exchange rates).
