Jeremy Clarkson Blew Up His Own House, Because He's Jeremy Clarkson

Imagine this scenario: you’re Jeremy Clarkson, you want to get rid of the five bedroom, £4 million house on your land to make way for a new one, and bulldozers are just too mainstream. What do you do? Since hammering it to death would take too long, the obvious answer is blow it up, and that’s exactly what the 56-year-old former Top Gear presenter did.
Clarkson hired an expert demolition firm that reduced the building to rubble in under an hour using a series of explosions. In its place on the Cotswolds land a 1130 square metre, six-bedroom property will be built, featuring five bathrooms, a basement cinema, and space for five cars. We were expecting a little more room in the car parking department, but hey, there is a quad bike storage space (obviously) that makes up for it.
You get the feeling some of Clarkson’s neighbours weren’t entirely happy, with The Telegraph quoting one 44-year-old local as saying: “It’s just typical Clarkson isn’t it? Any normal person would get in people to take it apart conventionally, but he blows it up. He blew up the entire house.”
He also mentioned that neighbours were sent a letter the night before to forewarn them of the noise. There was reportedly a funeral being held nearby at the same time as the explosions, but there aren’t thought to have been any complaints.
Clarkson’s new car show, The Grand Tour, kicks off this Autumn.
