With a drugged up driver on the loose in a stolen Infiniti QX80 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma last Friday, officer James Matthew Stacy planned to intercept using a stinger. However, it quickly became apparent he’d arrived at the scene too late, meaning all he could do was fire off a couple of rounds in an attempt to stop the SUV speeding towards him.

Both shots missed, with one hitting the Infiniti’s bonnet, and the other Stacy’s own patrol car. When the SUV smashed into the latter vehicle, Stacy was violently thrown backwards, as captured on this body camera footage which was released on Monday. Amazingly, Stacy suffered only minor injuries.

According to Tulsa World, the driver - named as 41-year-old Stacey Ann Bunsey- was arrested for assault and battery, evading a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
