Honda Civic + 5000 Hours Engraving = A Moving Masterpierce
You probably haven’t thought about engraving since high school metalwork class, right? Well check out this unbelievable Honda Civic, a work of art created by one man, his Dremel and by the time he’s finished, about 6,000 hours of sweat.
Yep, that’s the equivalent of going at it without rest, sleep, food or toilet breaks for 250 days, 24 hours a day. This incredible project is the result of engraving expert and all-round dude Shawn Lisjack, who found inspiration in an old school scratch-art project before setting his sights about a million times higher.
Citroen might think it knows a thing or two about painting cars, but it's way outclassed here. The 1992 Civic VX was upgraded with custom carbon fibre parts before being resprayed with a white primer and then a black top-coat, which gave Lisjack the contrast he wanted to make the artwork stand out.
Look closely and you’ll see Japanese-inspired dragons, massively intricate oriental swirls and even a little piston-waving monster, plus Monster and Dremel company logos. Either the man loves his energy drink and his drill or he didn’t pay for them himself...
American Yahoo! Autos quotes him as saying: "I wanted to create something that was truly unique and 'one of a kind' that the world has never seen before." We can’t say he’s done a bad job of that.
But as gob-smackingly awesome as this is, Lisjack is not done. When the remaining engraving is finished he’s going to add colour to make the designs stand out even more, before coating it with just about every transparent protective coat he can get his hands on – and with a body like that to protect, we can’t blame him.
Hat tip to Paul!
