Camaro Continues to Outsell Mustang

Much like Chrysler's overall fortunes in the sales race, the Challenger has been left in the dust. The real question has been the competition between the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro.
Historically, the Mustang has outsold the Camaro overall. The Camaro was GM's answer to the Mustang but it debuted after a lot of the initial pony car craze wore off. Some (including me) have wondered if history would repeat itself this time after Ford's success in 2005 with the Mustang redesign.
When the Camaro debuted, it handily outsold the Mustang. Many declared that a victory that the car could beat the Mustang - one month doesn't a trend make, especially considering the fact that there was a lot of pent up demand. 5 months though? That gives us a bit more of a data period. The Camaro has continued to sell the Mustang by consistent margins since going on sale.
Since April over 47,233 Camaros have been sold and in October the Camaro sold 8,082 units versus 4,789 for the Mustang and a paltry 2,398 for the Challenger. These are impressive numbers considering a lot of the Camaro excitement has faded and the anti-General Motors headwinds in the marketplace.
