Cheapest/easiest 450~WHP boosted, New-ish car

I was wondering what’s the cheapest way to get a 450~ whp boosted car? It has to be boosted with some form of forced induction, not NA. No C6 base Vettes, or other similar cars. Number of cylinders, displacement and the method of forced induction doesn’t matter. Hybrid cars are ok, converting an NA car into a boosted car is also ok as long as the cost of the FI kit is included. Upping the boost on a factory-boosted car is also ok, as long as the cost of upgrading the internals is also included. Don’t say “500hp Evo X on stock internals”, please. Doesn’t matter what transmissions the car has. No diesels, sorry. Nothing older than the late 80s. No engine swaps, might as well consider the donor car in that case.

For example, a Stillen supercharger kit is about $15,000 CAD after installation on a G37, and can make about 450whp @ 10lbs. After the cost of the $15,000 car, it’s ~$30,000 total.

A 2005 Mustang GT generally goes for 10-15k and has 300hp and a Edelbrock E-Force stage 1 street supercharger kit with tuner costs 6k and adds 166hp, so thats 466hp for 20-25k

That’s a ridiculously cheap supercharger kit. Why is Stillen so expensive? Haha

Bmw 330i, 325i with 330d’s turbo because it is big and a used turbocharger can cost no more than 1k€ and with a proper tune for about another 1k€ you get around 400++hp.
E46 bmw 330i in baltic states are around 3000+€ used.

Even though you said no to Evos on stock internals, I’ll let you in on a fact: it’s not the power that’s the concern, it’s the torque. On the Evo IX, the rods are good for up to 400 lb-ft.

Onto the horsepower bit, the Evo IX can make 400whp easily using the stock turbo along with bolt ons, cams and E85 ethanol. I suggest going on LancerShop for more details on the price. For 450whp, an upgraded turbo is needed as the stock unit is out of its depth at this point. I’d say an FP Green is ideal at this point. For better reliability, upgraded head studs from ARP along with rod bolts could be useful.

The biggest problem is finding an Evo for cheap, which is tricky as they’re going up in value. Good luck!

An evo X is 25k by itself. Power is a function of torque, and I’m truly worried that boosting the 4B11T is going to ruin all the diffs and stuff…

Would you count an upgraded turbo as stock internals? I wouldn’t, personally. Haha. I do know that the Evo X is one of the most mod-responsive cars out there. It’s an excellent car, just wish it sounded better xD

Also not sure if I want to run E85 all the time… because I don’t even know where to buy E85 honestly. Rip

I mean, getting a Lexus IS300 could be an idea. Convert it to a GTE, but only till 300 or lower hp. Unless you change the transmission and then you can go further. I shouldn’t really recommend this as I want an IS300 in Canada so bad, so just leave it be really

I thought about an IS300, but for $8000 you can have a 2JZGTE Aristo. Tranny on the Aristo can hold the power with some reinforcements and upgraded cooling as well.

Well, as Roadkill have proved, the Ford 5.0 Windsor can produce over 500 horses when combined with a Powerstroke diesel turbo. A bit of bodging will be required, but with any luck the total outlay will be under $15K

Pretty much any Mustang GT with a supercharger. On the low end, you can get one for $10,000 with the supercharger.
