Awd 2jz

I got into an argument w a friend about 2jz swaps, can you 2j swap a subaru and still keep it awd? Any reply would be appreciated

No, it wouldn’t fit. Subarus and Audis use an unusual layout with a longitudinally mounted engine placed entirely ahead of the front axle. An inline six like the 2JZ is too long for this layout. To get an I6 into an Impreza you’d have to lose the AWD system so that you can push the engine as far back as possible in the engine bay. As well as the engine, you’d need a new gearbox, driveshaft and a modified transmission tunnel.

Ohhh, I’ve seen 2j swapped subies before, rwd ofc, but I’d love to see an awd conversion. What if I used a different layout? Like the GTR one (linked image) seems doable

If you find an adapter plate for the gearbox I don’t see why not
