This Guy Rolled His Car Onto Its Side While Avoiding A Head-On Collision

Faced with another driver trying to pull off a ludicrously unsafe overtake, the guy in this Toyota Yaris took evasive action, and flipped his car onto its side in the process

Fortunately, the Yaris driver suffered only minor injuries in this scary accident. What’s particularly pleasing to see is how calm all parties were after the crash - it certainly makes a nice change to all those road rage videos we’re used to watching!

Dang, I wonder if his insurance company will fund a replacement car. I’m glad that country roads in Australia have some run off space unlike these stone walls

As a 1st-Gen Yaris driver, I’m not entirely sure I want to watch this…

Think of it as a tribute to the safety of your car!

Had a very simmilar situation with no crash fortunately. I was driving down the road and saw a tractor on the opposite line, when suddenly a douchebag in an Audi starts to overtake the tractor, instead of slowing down he even pushed pedal to the metal, so I had to put brake to the metal, also no ABS, but luckily everything went well.

he flipped his car for no reason lmao. Its clearly seen that the other dude managed to get to his lane before he crashed the car.

Well if you were in his position, you would also probably instinctively act as if you were to have a head on collision. Plus, the camera footage will most likely make distances appear further than in reality

I hope you know its illegal to overtake if you can’t see far enough ahead. Hope I never meet you on the road.

The usual reaction to BMW driver doing something stupid isn’t to flip yourself off…

I’m glad this guy is OK, but his physics is off. If two cars crash in to each other head on going the same speed, it’s just like hitting a solid wall. You don’t double the speed.

In fact you take energy from both cars and split it onto these 2 cars … The bad thing is the softest car will take more energy to crush the car

But you forgotten something. The occupants in the Yaris(Or smaller vehicle) will fare worse than the occupants in the larger vehicle, which in this case is the BMW even if the impact speed is the same.
Here’s a rough example (both are rated 5*)

If two cars travelling at 55mph in opposing directions collide the relative velocity of the impact is 110mph from the frame of reference of either car.
