I drive a 2007 Toyota Yaris sedan. This car is a lot of the reason that I became a car guy in the first place. Not a fast car by any means, but one that I enjoy nonetheless. It’s a generic subcompact sedan made by Toyota, and uses a 106bhp engine that’s in the same family as the Prius engine, so it’s not exactly popular amongst car enthusiasts.

When I show people what I drive, the universal reaction is “Blugh, a Yaris!”. It’s reputation as being a slow, crappy car is exaggerated, and that’s why I’m here to talk about why this isn’t as bad of a car as people say it is. It handles very well Despite being one of the cheapest cars you could buy in mid-2006, the handling on this car is surprisingly great. It’s more nimble than a lot of subcompacts, and can fly through corners with ease. The steering feels just right, and can be a joy to drive through curvy backroads.

Hi, I’m not sure if this is the right community or not, but I wanted to ask about simple, begginer bolt-on engine upgrading. A CAI comes to mind, but I wanted to see what else I could do. I’m on a kinda tight budget since I’m in high school and no one in my town wants to hire. I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris Sedan with a 1.5l 1NZ-FE engine making 109hp stock. Slow car, I know, but that’s why I want to make it faster. Handling upgrades are also welcome, although I am pretty content with it’s (nice) handling.
