#MuseumWalk Valentine’s Day Edition

#MuseumWalk Valentine’s Day Edition

It’s Sunday again fellow CTzens and we’re going to see the Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum from Deutschland!
In the exact day I visited the museum in August 2015 there was a US Car Meeting and the museum’s parking lot was full of American cars. As I want to share my full experience, today’s post is going to have a lot more photos, so have fun!

US Car Meet @ Sinsheim

I don’t really know what to say about the car meet, but almost all the cars I saw were a first time spot for me so I was constantly picking my jaw up from the asphalt.

If you think the meet was awesome, just wait for the museum…

Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum

Forget everything you ever saw as a kid and thought was a museum basically, this museum is beyond everything you ever imagined. They have everything you ever wanted to see and I’m not talking just about car related stuff, I’m talking about steam locomotives, commercial vehicles, tanks which you can control and other military equipment, award winning bicycles, and accessible planes like the all time greatest Concorde, IT IS MENTAL! The museum is truly a celebration of human made technology and it’s development.

I spent an entire day in the museum and I still think I didn’t see everything there was to see.

Warning: The following is as car related as I can keep it.

I guess I’ll kick off the museum tour with this, the DeLorean DMC-12, it wasn’t really the first thing I saw inside, but this just stuck in my mind, it was the first time I saw one in real life and it is even better than what you see in photos. Good thing they’re going into production again! Bad thing I can’t afford one yet…

This Cord was a first time spot also.

Now let’s kick some madness, this was a tank armor that has been shot at.

But the awesomeness is all over, not just in the things that stuck in my mind to be fair.

And by now you’re like: “Maaan this museum is SLEEEK!”, but then you get out of the first building to take a short walk to the second one and squeeze your eyes in the bright and painful sun of August as I did, but it’s totally worth it!

Yea that's me having lots of fun in a static car shaped sculpture. Horse power isn't everything you see?

For who doesn't know: The Blue Flame is the rocket-powered vehicle driven by Gary Gabelich that achieved the world land speed record on Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah on October 23, 1970. The vehicle set the FIA world record for the flying mile at 622.407 mph (1,001.667 km/h) and the flying kilometer at 630.388 mph (1,014.511 km/h).

I still dream of the Maserati 250F I saw at Sinsheim.

The thing is before I visited all these museums I spent a lot of time getting to know about what I was going to see there, how much I was going to pay, how long is gonna take me to get there.

The 250F took me by surprise, I remember my brother called me because I was watching the Blue Flame and asked: “Did you see this?”, I turned towards him, I saw it and my head just went blank, I couldn’t say a word. I sat there looking at it from all angles trying to memorise as much as I could from it. I think most of you know that I’m a huge Maserati fan by now, so you understand what I’m writing here.

I had to move on from the 250F and this is what followed.

I was getting really tired and hungry, but there was always something that would draw your attention and keep you going.

In the end I took the stairs to the top of the second building and what a great finale for the museum was to go on board of the Tupolev TU-144 and Concorde!

You can visit Technik Museum Speyer, it’s way smaller, but it’s really interesting! :D Next Sunday it’s gonna be about it actually.

Red 5? Senna’s JPS Lotus? The Lambo tractor? The Tyrell P34?

True story - the last time I was there the US Women’s soccer team was hanging out before their game with Columbia - I even gave change to one of them (Megan Rapinoe I think) but didn’t ask to take a single picture because, well, I’m an Ami and they’re soccer players…. :D
